Although I originally read this book in the s, I enjoyed the story again having forgotten most of it in the intervening years. May 20, Mikki rated it really liked it. He is from both mjko and continually struggles to find his place.

We were obsessed with ninjas in the ’80s: An intricately designed puzzle. If you like the mix of badass men, beautiful but sometime very dangerous women, facts from back then when it was written and a simply but excellent way of telling a story so it feels like youre standing there watching it all happen; youll like Miko: I originally found The Ninja while my wife and I were traveling in Ireland.

The conclusion is incredible and mind blowing, and really sets the high water mark for the series. The lines are often completely blurred between what’s actually possible with martial arts, and what’s simply just Japanese ninja legend or Lustbader making up and honestly, even now, I really have no idea where the line would be drawn if you forced me to. ‘The Ninja’ and ‘The Miko’ by Eric Van Lustbader

Martial arts, romance, mystics, and throw in the Japanese yakuza for good measure and you have another Lustbader author of the Bourne series smash hit. Pretty much killed off most of his friends. Withoutabox Submit to Film Festivals.

This te isn’t for everyone, I won’t be recommending it to my mother any time soon. Whilst these practices exist, they exist in legend or have been interpreted as such by EVL. This is a great series for any that enjoy a story set in Japan.

He blends modern technology and way of live with the traditional eastern philosophies and martial arts and the reader cannot but be amazed at his knowledge and ability to hold these disparate elements together in a cohesive story.

However the story is great and the character development awesome! This has a whole new story and lots of characters introduced and to my displeasure, re-introduced. Refresh and luustbader again. Haven’t read this since, and I honestly don’t know if I’d like it just as much but a nostalgic 5 stars for sure – for then at least.

I like reading van Lustbader’s descriptions of the Japanese people.

It’s believable because there is a believable world constructed around our heroes and villains. I read The Ninja a while ago and didn’t enjoy it as my feelings for it were overshadowed by Linnear’s awful experience, but when I saw Miko for 50p in a charity shop at work I bought it – mistakingly confusing Maiko with Miko. Eric Van Lustbader probably wants to surprise the readers but Lustabder did not like how he manipulated Linnear here and the story itself-combining revenge, the imbuing conflict mioo countries, deceit, etc.

In this instalment we find that Lustabder engages the reader with some of the more arcane elements of the traditional martial arts. But reic he may look American, a childhood spent in the dojos of Japan taught Linnear that vengeance must never be hurried.
