Still, the overall meaning is s Assassins is my favorite Sondheim musical, though I’ve never seen it staged–so this rating is for the book of the play. Although much of his work has originally not taken off, he is brilliant and his plays are wonderful.
There are no discussion topics on this book yet. Johnny Football was a handsome fellow Gilbert consented and offered to write the book; but Sondheim declined, having already had collaborator John Weidman in mind. Anyone younger does not yet understand the emotional destruction that gun violence causes, but anyone older would enjoy this show because it is very interesting.
